Arenas Scores for Schools for Third Straight Season
Wizards Guard to Donate $150 For Every Point Scored; Registration Is Underway

WASHINGTON, DC - During the 2008-09 season, Washington Wizards All-Star guard Gilbert Arenas donated $159,150 to Washington, DC metropolitan area public schools through his "Scores for Schools" program.

Through a random drawing, 41 schools will be selected (one for every Wizards home game this season) to participate. For every point Arenas scores in Wizards home games this season, he will donate $150 per point (a 50% increase from last season) to the selected school for each game. While Arenas is inactive, he will donate $150 per point scored by his highest-scoring teammate in the game. Arenas will also provide 25 tickets to each winning school to attend their designated home game, where students will sit in the ‘Gilbert’s Scores For Schools’ section. The ‘Scores for Schools’ program will help supply schools with computers, athletic uniforms and equipment, as well as fund after-school programs.

“I’m proud that the ‘Scores for Schools’ program continues to provide financial assistance to local area schools in Washington , Maryland and Virginia,” said Arenas. “I can’t wait to return to the court and score points for the schools myself, but I know my teammates will step up on a nightly basis until I return so we can assist as many students, teachers and schools as possible and help to make a difference in the lives of young people.”
