Three-time All-Star Guard To Grant Wish For Local Youth.

WHO: Washington Wizards Guard Gilbert Arenas, Brent Johnson and the Make-A-Wish Foundation

WHAT: Day Three of the annual ‘Wizards Care’ 12 Days of Holiday Cheer

WHEN: Friday, December 4, 2009 (Prior to Wizards vs. Toronto Raptores game)

Gilbert Arenas and the Washington Wizards will continue Washington’s annual ‘Wizards Care’ 12 Days of Holiday Cheer tomorrow night prior to the Wizards vs. Toronto Raptors game at Verizon Center at 7:00 pm. Arenas will meet privately with Johnson in the Wizards locker room before the game, before the 11-year is treated to an on-court ceremony, participation in the captains/referees meeting, and national anthem from courtside. Johnson will also assist Wizards coaches with pre-game preparation, act as a Wizards ball boy prior to tip-off, and meet the world famous Rockettes.

This afternoon at Verizon Center, during Day Two of the annual ‘Wizards Care’ 12 Days of Holiday Cheer, forward/center Andray Blatche presented 52 students with a special holiday ‘Reading Timeout’ featuring author, Kenji Jackson, and WSE’s own Daryl Humphrey, who collaborated on the book “The Rapping Salamander.” Blatche purchased and provided each child at the event with a copy of the book and a Target gift card, as well as lunch from Chipotle and Dasani. In addition, Blatche gave each of the students tickets to the Wizards game vs. Boston Celtics game on December 10th.

** Throughout the day on Tuesday, December 8th, 2009, when the Wizards pay tribute to former Chairman Abe Pollin at ‘Remembering Abe’ (a free, public celebration of the life of Pollin at 7:00 pm at Verizon Center), Wizards Care will conduct a day-long toy drive at Verizon Center. As a way of honoring Abe Pollin, people are asked to drop off a new, unwrapped toy at the F Street Entrance of Verizon Center, anytime from 7:00 am – 7:00 pm. Every person who donates a toy will receive a ticket voucher to a future Wizards game, and while supplies last Dunkin Donuts will provide morning treats, and Papa John’s will provide midday snacks for participants. **
